As COVID-19 spreads throughout the world, quarantine measures have heightened. This means limiting camping opportunities as campgrounds begin to close following guidelines stated by the CDC. However, not having a campground to go to can turn into a memorable experience nonetheless.
Just turn your backyard into your own personal campground!
While you might not have the chances to catch a fish, hike a scenic trail, or relax next to a lake there is still plenty of fun and memories to have. The best part about it is that if conditions worsen, or if you can't sleep on the ground, or for whatever reason that's making you uncomfortable, all you have to do is take a quick walk inside to your comfy home!
Let's not focus on what you can't do, but what you can do.
1- Build a fire
Conversations around a fire can be some of the best talks. From anecdotes, to horror stories, or even conspiracy theories, this situation brings out all kinds of dialogue to be had with family and close friends.
2- Roast some S'mores
A classic. If you have a fire going, why not make a quick snack to go along with it? It doesn't have to be the typical s'more either. Experiment with different chocolates and crackers, and maybe even other additions. Then sit back, smile, and brag about how much better yours is than everyone else's.
3- Having a "tent" outside
This one is pretty self explanatory. It's not camping if you don't have a makeshift shelter right? This one is up to preference. If it's nice outside and you don't want to set-up or just sleep in a tent in general, just set up a hammock!
4- Enjoying the outdoors
You don't need to be at a campground to enjoy the outdoors. If you don't feel like sleeping outside, no biggie. You can still have a bar-b-que, get a tan, bird watch, and take part in many other activities available at a campground from the comfort of you home.
